This year, the Z-Event has teamed up with Action Against Hunger (Action contre la Faim) on October 29th-31st to fundraise for an amazing cause — hunger and malnutrition. Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organization that fights hunger and its root causes worldwide.

Malnutrition is the single greatest threat to child survival. Each year, 3.1 million children die from hunger-related causes — a staggering 45% of all child deaths globally. But there are solutions to malnutrition. Malnutrition is predictable, preventable, and treatable, and defeating hunger on a global scale is affordable. No child should die of hunger and malnutrition.¹

Action Against Hunger has a wholistic approach to fighting this issue, focusing their efforts on 4 broad categories of action:

  1. Identification and Diagnosis
  2. Treatment and Nutritional Care
  3. Prevention and Risk Reduction
  4. Strengthening Capacity and Sustainability

In addition to these action saving lives, they also improve lives for many through long-term sustainability solutions for the communities they partner with. An example of this might be upgrading a hand-pumped borehole to a solar-powered water supply system, thereby increasing access to clean drinking water for communities who had none.

Similarly, last year in response to the growing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan they provided nutrition and health care to 52,246 children under five years old, and 13,416 pregnant and breastfeeding women. “We also implement water, sanitation and hygiene programs, provide mental health support to mothers and caregivers, and run agricultural projects that help communities generate income and improve long-term food security.”²

For this reason, we were very excited to see that the Z-Event would be fundraising for Action Against Hunger this year. The Z-Event is the largest charity streaming event in history, raising €5.7 million Euros during their 2020 stream, earning praise from the president of France at the time, Emmanuel Macron.

#ZEVENT2020, you can be proud! Proud to have mobilized more than 5.7 million euros (a record !) to uphold human rights with Amnesty. Proud to have shown that by being united and in solidarity we can accomplish great things. This unit, let’s feed it!

At Streamlabs, we are honored that the Z Team has chosen to host their event on Streamlabs Charity, and wish the best for the entire team for this event. If you’d like to watch the stream or participate in the event, you can find it on Twitch or make a donation from their profile on StreamlabsCharity.com.
